• Covid 19 - Revised Rules for using the green

The government has relaxed further the Covid 19 lockdown rules giving slightly more freedom for members who wish to use the green for their daily exercise.

Although infection rates have fallen they are still very high and there remains a significant risk of passing the virus from person to person. With this in mind we are continuing in being cautious when implementing new advice received from the BCGBA, which allowed for an increase in the numbers on the green.

We would emphasise the need to continue social distancing (the 2 meter rule) and avoid risking spreading the virus.

The following are the "rules" for using the green.

    1) Only WCI BC members may use the green. We expect members to practice as individuals or couples from the same household.

2 ) Only Two games are allowed on the green at any time, subject to the provisions below.

    3) Games can be played as normal between people from the same household.

    4) Two individuals from different households may play singles against each other, but must obey the 2 meter rule at all times. This includes when sending / retrieving the jack and bowls and when judging / measuring the head. Players must not handle each other’s bowls. Each player must deliver their own jack ( not use a shared one).

    5) Players from different households must use two mats. At the start of an end the losing player should place their mat down and pick their own mat up at the end of the end.

    6) If two games are on the green care must to taken to maintain more than 4 meters between groups to ensure players can social distance. Do not send the jack or bowls near the other group. If a bowl / jack from another group interferes with you game do NOT handle them. Kick them away so they can be safely retrieved.

7)The BCGBA also stipulate a maximum of 6 persons can be at the green at any time, including players on the green and spectators.

    8) The pavilion will remain closed and should only be entered in an emergency. We do not have the ability to ensure the pavilion is sanitised and safe for all. The keys are back in the key safe for use in an emergency. Please use hand sanitiser after unlocking/locking.

    10) Avoid touching any surfaces around the green and pavilion. After playing, as a precaution wash yours bowls and jack and use hand sanitiser.

    10) You must continue to pre-book the green, to avoid overcrowding. It is also a requirement to keep a record of users.

The calendar on the website (wickersleybowling.co.uk) will show if will show if the green is free.

If playing with a member from another household please book under both names.

To book please contact John Fisher.

Once again we would emphasise the need to continue social distancing (2 meters) and avoid taking any risks. AVOID THE SPREADING THE VIRUS.

If any member who has used the green shows Covid 19 symptoms they must follow the rules regarding self-isolation. Please inform John Fisher who can advise other members as appropriate.
